Makaranga Gardens is such a beautiful place to go to especially for kids. I was not too impressed with the service but the food was absolutely delicious.
We had an awesome weekend away at Cranford Country Lodge in the Midlands. I am so proud having managed to brace the cold!
If you have been watching Masterchef Australia then celebrity chef Matt Moran should be familiar to you. I love the brand around his latest collaborated Chiswick Restaurant. The whole idea is about neighborhood kitchen garden where most of the fresh produce are grown in the backyard. I love the simple and friendly environment with large communal tables perfect for sharing stories and celebrating good moments!
I love the market at the Old Biscuit Mill in Woodstock – definitely a must if you are in Cape Town. It was a real treat to spend Christmas Eve morning there last year – the whole set up from atmosphere, people, food and trinkets are all so inspiring!
I love the “rawness” of this Greek restaurant in Sydney called The Apollo – never thought bare and rugged concrete could look that good.
I would love to visit Clarke’s bar and dining room the next time I go to Cape Town – they are situated in Bree Street. I love the industrial and minimal look mixed with indoor plants. The interior was designed by industrial designer Liam Mooney who I am a big fan of. All look like this could be my happy place – and the food looks delicious!
So my favourite chef Jamie Oliver turned 37 years old last Sunday. He is someone I admire and respect a lot due to his passion, dedication, hard work and his strive for perfectionism in no matter what he does. I had the opportunity to be invited to one of his restaurant Jamie’s Italian while I was in London in Jan and was amazed on how simple, cosy and homely the place felt like. I love the main lighting made of clear recycled glass bottles, the antique “crapper” toilets, white rectangular tiles and raw wood. The food was excellent and all served in terracotta dinnerware!
Axel loves anything that has to do with farming – from farm house, animals, stables, nurseries, dam, river etc. So we stayed at this game farm in Dargyle a while ago and it was an absolute treat. The owners of Tillietudlem are wonderful and would go out of their way to make you feel at home.
One of my favourite place to stay in the Midlands is Hillhouse in Dargyle. We went there for Mother’s Day two years ago and I am still in love with the place.
